Celestine, Dundas Quarry, near Hamilton, Ontario
Phantom crystal, 20x13x2, perhaps my all-time fave, collected 05/1991

A top-notch Dundas celestine cluster, 65 mm across with doubly terminated xls to 45 mm long. Note the color zoning, feathery multiple terminations, and tiny marcasite specks, all typical for the locality. Image courtesy of Maggie Wilson

A fuzzy-terminated crystal, 35 mm wide, collected in the spring of 2009
Tim Jokela collection and photo

Closeup of the fuzzy termination... weird, anybody know the cause?

A triple-color-zoned celestine, 5 cm tall, collected ~1990, Tim Jokela collection and photo

A neat specimen that gives a better idea of how these form and are found, in vugs in rock.
The vug is 95 mm across, lined with small pale yellow calcites, and celestine to 15 mm
