Canadian mineralogists have been instrumental
to the production of this website, which is based upon their work:
Jack Satterly (A Catalog of the Ontario Localities Represented
by the Mineral Collection of the Royal Ontario Museum, 1977)
Ann Sabina (numerous volumes in the Rocks and Minerals for the
Collector series covering all of Canada, published from 1972 to 1991)
R.J.Traill (Catalog of Canadian Minerals, 1980)
Robert Gait (Mineral Species from Canadian Type
Localities, an Annotated List, 1983)
Scott Ercit (a pegmatite specialist
who done a great deal of excellent work on Ontario mineralogy)
Other valued contributors (collectors,
dealers, geologists, etc.) are:
- Marty Lewadny allowed use of his superb Ontario mineral photographs
- Glenn Sloggett provided an excellent Eurypterid photograph
- Charlie & Florence Magovern provided a fine Isotelus photograph
- John Jaszczak searched GeoRef and forwarded many pages of data
- Venetia Bodycomb scanned and emailed a long list of Hemlo minerals
- Thomas Bee provided info on and specimens of some rare Ontario minerals
- Brad Wilson provided information on the more unusual Ontario gemstones
- Dirk Schmid provided an insightful list of website improvements
- Nathan Schachtman mentioned a bunch of of interesting fluorescents I missed
- Ray Hill pointed out a number of localities that have produced top specimens
- Terri Ottaway and Katherine Dunnell provided the ROM's gemstone
